Turkey (2017-2022): I visited Turkey to conduct extensive fieldwork on multiple occasions, particularly to interview civil society representatives and activist communities working on the following themes: women’s rights and empowerment, environmental justice, human rights, labour, youth and family, migrant and refugee rights. The field sites included Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir, Gaziantep, and Diyarbakir. I participated in public events of several civil society organisations during my visits for field observation data. I also carried out deliberative community dialogues with the participation of ordinary citizens in Adana, Bursa, Ankara, Istanbul, Izmir, Gaziantep, Konya, and Diyarbakir.

Kosovo and Cyprus (2010-2012): As part of the PhD dissertation, I interviewed local politicians, civil society representatives and international organizations involved in peacebuilding and state-building.

Vienna, Berlin, Sarajevo, Stockholm (2018-2019): My visits aimed to interview Turkish diaspora communities and diaspora civil society representatives. I participated in events organized by diaspora communities and civil society.

Brussels (2018): I interviewed several officials from the European Commission and the European Parliament concerning the EU’s support for civil society in Turkey.
